Endodontist near Gainesville, GA

Most dental conversations eventually narrow to two options: save the tooth or take it out. Braselton Endodontics exists for the first one. We are a specialty practice devoted entirely to endodontics, so every appointment on our schedule involves the interior of a tooth and whether it can be preserved. Patients throughout Gainesville, GA and Hall County come to us at that fork in the road.

Saving a natural tooth keeps the surrounding bone stimulated, keeps neighboring teeth from drifting, and avoids the longer and more expensive replacement path that follows an extraction.

Endodontic Care for Gainesville Patients

Most people arrive knowing something is wrong without knowing what it is called. Here is how our services map to the situations that bring Gainesville patients through the door.

A tooth that is infected or inflamed inside. When decay, a crack, or repeated dental work lets bacteria reach the pulp, the tissue inside the tooth becomes inflamed or infected. Non-surgical endodontic treatment can often resolve this and save the tooth. Root canal therapy is the procedure most people know by name, and modern technique has moved it a long way from its reputation. In certain cases, particularly where healthy pulp tissue remains below the affected area, a pulpotomy addresses the problem while preserving more of the tooth's living structure.

A tooth that was already treated and never settled down. A root canal performed years ago can fail to heal, or discomfort can return long after the fact. That is not a dead end. Endodontic retreatment gives the tooth a second chance by reopening it, addressing what was missed or what has changed, and resealing it. When the issue sits at the root tip and cannot be reached through the crown, surgical endodontics, including apical surgery, allows Dr. Brann to treat the problem directly and still keep the tooth in place.

A tooth in sudden pain or after an injury. Infections and dental trauma do not schedule themselves. We make every effort to accommodate emergency patients quickly so they can get relief and treatment as soon as possible. If you are in Gainesville and something has gone wrong today, calling early gives us the best chance of fitting you in.

A patient who dreads the whole thing. Anxiety is a legitimate clinical factor, not a personality quirk. Sedation options such as nitrous oxide are available, and we will talk through your concerns and recommend the approach that best supports your comfort.

Diagnosis drives all of it, and diagnosis depends on what we can see. CBCT 3D imaging reveals internal tooth anatomy that flat X-rays flatten out of view. Surgical microscopy provides magnification during treatment itself. Laser-assisted irrigation improves cleaning and disinfection of the canal system, reaching areas that traditional instruments alone can struggle to access. The point of all three is the same: treat precisely, and leave as much healthy tooth structure intact as possible.

Our office is at 1235 Friendship Rd., Unit 115 in Braselton. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Friday appointments available by request. Call 706-445-2050 to schedule.

About Gainesville, GA

Gainesville is the seat of Hall County and the commercial anchor of northeast Georgia, sitting in the foothills roughly 55 miles from Atlanta. Founded in the early 1800s and named for a War of 1812 general, the city became known nationally as the poultry capital of the world, and it remains a regional center for healthcare, education, and employment. Its downtown square marks the starting point of a to-scale model of the solar system that stretches out across the city, and its Green Street corridor preserves some of the region's most recognizable architecture.

  • Elachee Nature Science Center. Set inside the 1,500-acre Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve, Elachee pairs an interactive museum with miles of hiking trails and serves tens of thousands of students and visitors each year.
  • Atlanta Botanical Garden, Gainesville. The sister site to the Midtown Atlanta garden opened in 2015 and offers outdoor garden rooms, woodland walking trails, a model train garden, a children's garden, and an amphitheater that hosts concerts and seasonal exhibitions.
  • Quinlan Visual Arts Center. Located on historic Green Street, the Quinlan hosts rotating exhibitions, classes, and community arts programming, and anchors a downtown arts scene that also includes The Arts Council in the converted CSX railroad depot.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Gainesville Area Endodontist Practice

What does an endodontist do that my regular dentist does not?

An endodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on the inside of the tooth: the pulp, the nerve, and the root canal system. General dentists handle a wide range of care and many perform routine root canals. Specialists complete additional years of training beyond dental school dedicated to this one area, and they take on the cases that are more complex, involve unusual anatomy, or have already been treated once without success. Because endodontics is the entire practice here rather than one service among many, the equipment, the techniques, and the daily repetition are all pointed at the same set of problems.

How many appointments will treatment take, and how long is each one?

That depends on the tooth and the diagnosis. Some cases are completed in a single visit and others are better handled across two, particularly when infection needs time to resolve between stages. Molars have more canals than front teeth and generally take longer. Dr. Brann will give you a realistic estimate once she has reviewed your imaging, and she will tell you up front if the picture changes mid-treatment. For Gainesville patients coordinating a drive, we are glad to discuss scheduling when you call.

My root canal was done years ago and the tooth still bothers me. Is it too late?

Usually not. A previously treated tooth can fail to heal for several reasons, including canals that were narrow or curved enough to be missed originally, a crown or filling that allowed new bacteria in, or a fracture that developed later. Endodontic retreatment addresses these directly, and CBCT imaging often reveals what earlier two-dimensional X-rays could not show. If retreatment through the crown is not the right route, apical surgery may be. Either way, a second opinion costs you far less than an extraction.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency in Gainesville?

Call our office at 706-445-2050 as early in the day as possible. Dental pain and infection tend to escalate rather than resolve on their own, and swelling that spreads is a reason to seek care immediately rather than waiting to see how the weekend goes. We make every effort to accommodate emergency patients quickly. If you have knocked out or displaced a tooth, handle it as little as possible and call us right away, since time matters considerably in trauma cases.

How do Gainesville patients get to your office?

We are located southwest of Gainesville at 1235 Friendship Rd., Unit 115 in Braselton, most directly reached by way of I-985 and Friendship Road. For most Gainesville residents the drive is a manageable errand rather than a trip, and it is a good deal shorter than heading down toward metro Atlanta for specialty care. Directions are available on our contact page, or call 706-445-2050 and we will walk you through the route.
